Husband and wife died from impact trauma in plane crash, inquest told
BBC Wales reports that an inquest has opened into the deaths of Ketan Swali and Sheetal Swali, a married couple from Syston, Leicestershire, who perished in a plane crash near Trawsfynydd, Gwynedd.
The couple were on their way to Caernarfon Airport from Burton-upon-Trent when their Piper PA28 aircraft, hired from Sherwood Flying Club, crashed in a remote location. The coroner, Sarah Riley, revealed that the provisional cause of death for both individuals was major impact trauma.
Air and ground searches were launched after police received reports that the plane had not arrived at its scheduled time. Members of the couple’s family attended the inquest via video link.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. The hearing has been adjourned while inquiries continue. The coroner extended her condolences to the family.
