Pakistan Navy Exercises and Indian Ship's Maneuvers
The Pakistani Navy has been conducting Sea Spark 26 exercises in its exclusive economic zone since September 1st. An Indian naval ship, INS Kolkata, attempted to enter the exercise area repeatedly since that date, engaging in dangerous and provocative behavior near Pakistani Navy vessels.
Violation of Bilateral Agreement
The spokesperson highlighted that INS Kolkata's actions were not standard deployments but a blatant breach of the 1991 bilateral agreement. Despite warnings, the Indian ship continued its reckless conduct. On September 15th, INS Kolkata changed direction suddenly and collided with PNS Hunnain. Despite PNS Hunnain's attempts to avoid it, the Pakistani vessel brushed against the Indian ship. After the incident, INS Kolkata accelerated and fled the area.
Provocative Actions and Regional Peace
The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized that the Indian Navy ship's actions were highly provocative and could have escalated into a major crisis. However, the professional response from the Pakistan Navy prevented further escalation. Pakistan expresses grave concern over these violations by India, which is attempting to diplomatically distort the situation. These actions, according to the spokesperson, are an attempt to undermine regional peace, and India should abide by bilateral agreements and act responsibly.
