Korean Container Ship Sails to Europe via Arctic for First Time

SEOUL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 23rd Aug, 2026) A Korean container ship set sail for Europe via the Arctic on Saturday in what is considered the country’s first commercial voyage along this route, aiming to test its commercial viability.
The journey is estimated to take approximately 45 days in total, with stops at:
- Felixstowe, United Kingdom (September 9)
- Rotterdam, Netherlands (September 11)
- Gdansk, Poland (September 15)
and returning to Busan, Korea on October 5.
The ship, "PanStar Acro," departed from the southeastern Korean port city of Busan and is expected to enter the Northern Sea Route around August 30 and pass through Arctic waters around September 7.
The entire voyage covers approximately 6,400 kilometers (3,976 miles) through Arctic waters.
