KP Food Authority Seizes and Discards Over 4,000kg of Unsafe Food

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has taken a stringent stand against unsafe food practices, seizing and discarding over 4,000 kilograms of substandard and adulterated food items across the province. This crackdown, conducted in several key cities, resulted in significant actions against violators.
During the operation, authorities disposed of:
- 1,200 kg of spoiled liver and hearts.
- 200 kg of adulterated minced meat.
- 500 kg of unfit meat.
- 150 kg of substandard frozen chicken and meat.
- 800 kg of adulterated spices.
Additionally, 1,200 litres of contaminated milk were destroyed in Abbottabad after tests revealed the presence of skim milk, glucose, and detergent. In Peshawar’s Gulbahar area, officials seized 1,200 kg of spoiled liver and hearts supplied from Lahore, leading to further legal action under the Food Safety Act.
A meat shop in Nowshera was sealed for selling unfit meat, while fines were imposed on violators in other districts. Dr Muhammad Israr Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food, assured continued strict action against those involved in unsafe food practices and urged citizens to report such cases to the Food Authority for public health protection.
