Minister of State Highlights Public Diplomacy’s Role in Global Dialogue

Mohammad Ali (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 16th Sep, 2026) DUBAI: Public diplomacy plays an increasingly crucial role in fostering open dialogue and building bridges between nations at a time of global change, as stated by Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State.

Speaking at the Arab Media Summit 2026 in Dubai, she addressed a gathering that included Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, and Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the Arab Media Summit, along with senior media professionals.

Al Kaabi noted that the UAE, guided by its leadership’s vision, cultivates international relations based on tolerance, openness, respect for diverse religions and cultures, and shared interests. She added that the country continues to expand international cooperation and partnerships aimed at achieving stability and prosperity.

She emphasized the significance of public diplomacy when conventional political channels weaken, stating that successful diplomacy should connect people, narrow perspectives, reduce differences, and create opportunities for understanding and cooperation.

The Minister welcomed positive developments in relations with Syria, the country’s new vision, and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa‘s visit to the UAE. She also praised an initiative by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, to restore the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, which she said would help preserve Syrian people’s memory and safeguard Arab cultural heritage.

Regarding the UAE’s soft power, Al Kaabi stressed the need for consistency, credibility, and coordination across government entities to build and strengthen the country’s national narrative, supported by wider international partnerships. She cited Expo 2020 Dubai as a global success that brought people and cultures together around a shared vision.

She also cautioned against the rapid spread of misinformation on digital platforms, advocating active engagement, continuous assessment, swift response, and credibility. Young people, she added, have a vital role in verifying information, challenging misleading content, and using their digital platforms to strengthen communication between the UAE and the world.

Al Kaabi concluded by emphasizing that openness and stronger international relationships must be balanced with responsibility and awareness, with national security being paramount.
