The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has issued Ministerial Resolution No. (179) of 2026, outlining the conditions, requirements, and procedures for Emirati students’ scholarships. This resolution marks a significant step towards:

  • Developing the national scholarship system
  • Enhancing the quality of its outcomes
  • Aligning them with national priorities and labor market needs within an integrated framework for governance and oversight

Academic Eligibility Criteria:

Institutions must meet specific global ranking thresholds to be eligible:

  • Top 50 globally in the relevant field of study (for all countries)
  • Top 100 globally in the relevant field and top 100 overall for United States or Australia
  • Top 200 globally in the relevant field and top 200 overall for English-speaking countries (excluding US and Australia)
  • Top 300 globally in the relevant field and top 300 overall for non-English speaking countries.

The resolution gives priority to strategic sectors: energy, transport, technology, healthcare, water and environment, creative industries, science, and finance, aligning with UAE’s national priorities.
