Modernizing Design Wing of C&W Dept crucial need of hour: Khosa

Minister for Communications and Works (C&W), Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa, on Wednesday emphasized the importance of modernizing the Design Wing of the C&W Department to meet contemporary demands. He argued that introducing modern machinery, equipment, and technical expertise would significantly enhance departmental performance and streamline development project execution.
These remarks were made during a briefing by the Design Wing of the Communications and Works Department, attended by Secretary of Communications and Works Babar Khan, Chief Engineer (Design Wing) Jamal Ahmed Bugti, Chief Engineer (Federal Projects) Dr. Sajjad Baloch, and other officials.
Khan detailed the current capabilities of the Design Wing, including its technical workforce and existing machinery. He highlighted the need for additional modern equipment and trained personnel to elevate the wing's standards. An ongoing recruitment process for technical staff is expected to boost capacity and improve planning and design processes considerably.
Khosa assured that the government would provide all necessary resources to enhance the Design Wing's capabilities, ensuring access to modern facilities and skilled manpower. He added that this transformation would reduce the department's reliance on external consultancies, resulting in cost savings and increased revenue generation.
The minister expressed his commitment to turning the Communications and Works Department into a modern, self-sufficient entity.
