Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Behind Decision Not to Move Imran Khan to Hospital: Junaid Akbar

Pakistan: Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and MNA Junaid Akbar Khan sharply criticized the judicial system, government, and political victimization, attributing blame for obstructing Imran Khan's transfer to a hospital on Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Akbar stated:
- "In the present era, after Justice Aminuddin’s court took PTI founder Imran Khan’s case up, I believe the Supreme Court should open a general store."
- He questioned Nawaz Sharif's freedom to travel from jail to Britain and receive airport bail.
- "All other people in the case of Chitral MNA Abdul Latif had been acquitted, but his case hadn't been scheduled for a hearing for one and a half years, clearly showing how PTI cases were being treated."
Regarding provincial administrative units, Akbar alleged that the real objective was not to create empowered units but to strengthen federal government control over provincial resources under the NFC Award. He criticized the lack of attention given to critical issues like education and healthcare in Islamabad despite its limited area and population.
He continued:
- “Dialogue does not take place at gunpoint; on one side talks are held, while on the other warrants are issued."
- "We are neither allowed to hold rallies, nor permitted to speak on the assembly floor, and our cases are not being scheduled."
Akbar highlighted a perceived double standard, noting that Nawaz Sharif had been ill with various ailments except for one unspecified condition, while Shehbaz Sharif’s back pain seemingly disappeared upon becoming prime minister. He also joked about Shehbaz Sharif's daily swimming routine.
