Nawaz Sharif Medical District to Offer Multiple Healthcare Facilities: Minister
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has stated that groundbreaking and historical projects worth billions of rupees are being initiated in the health sector, with the establishment of multiple healthcare facilities under the Nawaz Sharif Medical District Lahore project.
He chaired a meeting regarding this project at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Wednesday. The gathering thoroughly reviewed the project, with relevant officials providing detailed updates to attendees.
The minister revealed that the facilities planned for the project include:
- Children's Hospital-II
- Institute of Genetic and Blood Diseases
- Institute of Surgical, Orthopedic and Medical Rehabilitation
- Center of Excellence for Nursing Education
- A specialized medical hospital
- Cardiac hospital
- Medical university
- State-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory
Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that the government is a top priority to provide quality healthcare facilities directly to the public. He instructed the executing agency to expedite work on various new health projects across the province.
Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood affirmed the goal of ensuring no barriers for citizens seeking healthcare. He noted that the Nawaz Sharif Medical District project is undergoing constant monitoring.
Special Secretary (Development) Ahmed Kamal Mann, Senior Planning Officer, and other officials attended the meeting.
