PIMA Expresses Deep Concern Over Suspension, Dismissal Of 15 Doctors
Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has expressed deep concern over the suspension of registration and dismissal from service of 15 doctors in Punjab, indicating that such measures intensify uncertainty and accelerate the brain drain of medical professionals abroad.
Prof. Dr. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, PIMA Central President, stated in a Wednesday release that:
"The careers of healthcare professionals cannot be placed at risk through abrupt administrative decisions... These actions carry severe repercussions for the public healthcare system and patient care."
He further highlighted the existing challenges faced by Pakistan's health sector, including acute manpower shortages, challenging work environments, and career instability for young practitioners. He criticized impractical queries and official pressure in routine hospital operations, demanding an immediate review of the decisions and calling for meaningful dialogue to address doctors' grievances.
