PM Directs Skills Training For Youth, Women To Unlock New Job Opportunities

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the relevant authorities to prioritize equipping young people, especially women, with skills to ensure their involvement in emerging job opportunities.

During a review meeting on the implementation of the National Youth Employment Policy, the prime minister emphasized the need for focused attention on providing employment prospects for youth nationwide, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He highlighted institutional reforms within the National Vocational and Technical Training Center (NAVTTC) and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to align Pakistan’s skilled workforce with domestic and international business demands.

The PM stated that a monthly review meeting on the policy’s progress was imperative. He underscored that providing decent employment for the country’s skilled and talented youth is a top government priority. The launch of Pakistan’s inaugural National Youth Employment Policy reflects sincere efforts in this regard.

He emphasized the significance of inter-ministerial cooperation and a holistic strategy for policy initiative implementation. Special directions were also issued to initiate an awareness campaign to inform young people about their policy benefits.

In the meeting, it was informed that NAVTTC is implementing measures to offer international certifications and language proficiency training, catering to employment requirements abroad. Similarly, youth are being trained based on market demands to facilitate overseas job opportunities. The Digital Youth Hub, a government initiative, provides access to domestic and global job information through a centralized platform.

The gathering was informed that all ministries and related entities are collaborating for effective policy implementation through coordination and consultation. Youth Development Cells are being established in educational institutions to offer career counseling, employment guidance, and skills development updates to young people.

Rana Mashhood, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, apprised the prime minister of actions taken in compliance with his directives.
