Heavy Rain, Urban Flooding Risk Forecast in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Several Areas During Weekend

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday forecast more rain-wind/thundershower in Islamabad, the Potohar region, upper Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan during the night, with isolated heavy rainfall also expected at a few places.
According to the PMD forecast, similar weather conditions are likely to persist on Saturday, with rain-wind/thundershowers expected in upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely during the period, while hot and humid weather would prevail in other parts of the country.
The Met Office warned that heavy rainfall during the weekend could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of:
- Islamabad
- Rawalpindi
- Mardan
- Swabi
- Gujranwala
- Gujrat
- Sialkot
- Lahore
There is also a risk of flash flooding in local streams and nullahs of:
- Kashmir
- Murree
- Galiyat
- Islamabad-Rawalpindi
The Met Office further warned of landsliding in mountainous areas of:
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
- Gilgit-Baltistan
- Murree
- Galiyat
- Kashmir
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, partly cloudy weather accompanied by rain-wind/thundershowers is expected, with heavy rainfall also likely during the period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy rainfall are expected in:
- Dir
- Swat
- Kohistan
- Malakand
- Shangla
- Chitral
- Battagram
- Buner
- Khyber
- Bajaur
- Mohmand
- Mansehra
- Abbottabad
- Haripur
- Mardan
- Swabi
- Nowshera
- Peshawar
- Hangu
- Orakzai
- Kurram
- Kohat
- Bannu
- Tank
- Lakki Marwat
- Dera Ismail Khan
- Waziristan.
In Punjab, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy rainfall are likely in:
- Rawalpindi
- Murree
- Galiyat
- Attock
- Chakwal
- Gujrat
- Jhelum
- Mangla
- Gujranwala
- Hafizabad
- Mandi Bahauddin
- Sialkot
- Narowal
- Lahore
- Kasur
- Sheikhupura
- Okara
During the evening and night, similar weather is expected in:
- Faisalabad
- Sargodha
- Jhang
- Toba Tek Singh
- Mianwali
- Layyah
- Bhakkar
- Khushab
- Noorpur Thal
- Chiniot
- Dera Ghazi Khan
The other districts of the province are likely to experience hot and humid weather.
Most districts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and humid, while partly cloudy weather is likely in coastal areas. In Balochistan, hot and humid weather is forecast in most districts, with rain-wind/thundershowers expected in Musa Khel, Zhob, Khuzdar, and adjoining areas during evening and night.
Cloudy weather with rain-wind/thundershowers is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while heavy rainfall is also likely in Kashmir.
