PM Shehbaz Hails Digital Proof of Life System as Major Relief for Pensioners
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday described the launch of the digital Proof of Life Certificate system for pensioners as a major step towards facilitating millions of pensioners across the country, particularly elderly and physically challenged citizens.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Proof of Life Certificate facility for pensioners, the prime minister said the initiative would benefit both civilian and military pensioners, including senior citizens, women, and persons with disabilities.
He stated that introducing this system was a matter of great happiness for him as it offered an important service to pensioners and a significant step towards simplifying their lives.
The prime minister emphasized that facilitating elderly citizens and serving individuals with disabilities was not merely an administrative task but a noble act of humanity.
He expressed gratitude to the Federal ministers, officials, and institutions who worked on this initiative and congratulated them for their efforts in implementing the modern system.
Specifically, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Dr Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah, and the Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for their contributions to developing this system.
He noted that the use of modern technology would enable pensioners to complete their Proof of Life verification from home through facial recognition and a digital application, eliminating the need for repeated bank visits. This measure would significantly ease the difficulties faced by elderly, weak, and disabled pensioners who previously had to visit banks every six months.
The prime minister also appreciated NADRA for providing this service free of charge to millions of pensioners, and expressed gratitude to all involved in launching the system. He prayed that their efforts be blessed, with beneficiaries remembering them in their prayers.
