PRA Issues Guidelines For Transparent Tax Payments at Restaurants, Food Points

Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has issued comprehensive guidelines for customers visiting restaurants, hotels, and coffee shops across Punjab to ensure transparency in tax payments and facilitate citizens in obtaining digital receipts.

Under the new guidelines:

  • The issuance of kitchen orders, unpaid bills, pre-bills, or temporary bills to customers will not be permitted.
  • All food chains, restaurants, hotels, and coffee shops must prominently display these guidelines at their premises.

The PRA spokesperson urges citizens to:

  • Obtain a digital receipt upon availing services from restaurants and hotels.
  • Ensure the receipt is obtained after payment.
  • Verify the business name, address, and Punjab Taxpayer Registration Number (PNTN) mentioned on the receipt.

The digital receipt should contain:

  • Order details
  • Applicable tax rate
  • Amount before tax
  • Total amount
  • PRA invoice number
  • PRA QR code

Customers can use the QR code to verify transaction details.

The spokesperson also advised citizens to immediately lodge a complaint with the PRA if any business refuses to accept digital or card payments. This can be done through:

  • PRA’s social media platforms
  • The PRA Sahulat application
  • WhatsApp at +92 343 000 0772

The PRA emphasizes that obtaining digital receipts is crucial for ensuring transparency in tax payments. Citizens are urged to protect the taxes they pay for the development and prosperity of Punjab.
