Prisoner Found Medically Fit After Detailed Examination at PIMS, Tarar

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated on Friday that, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling, a prisoner was transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) during the night between August 20th and 21st, 2026, under strict security arrangements for a comprehensive medical evaluation.
As per a post on X by the minister, doctors from Shifa International Hospital were also present at PIMS during the examination. A team of qualified medical professionals, including an ophthalmologist, cardiologist, and physician, conducted a thorough examination and concluded that the prisoner was medically fit.
Tarar explained that the decision to take the prisoner to PIMS was made considering the security challenges posed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers on the route to and from Shifa Hospital.
He added that the prisoner’s sister, Uzma Khan, accompanied him throughout all stages of the medical process and treatment.
Upon completion, the prisoner was returned to Adiala Jail at 5:00 a.m. on August 21st. The minister assured that medical facilities would continue to be provided to the prisoner as needed.
