PTI Founder Receiving Best Available Medical Treatment: Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026) Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan on Monday informed the Senate that
the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder was being provided the best available medical treatment and that there had been no negligence in addressing his health concerns while in judicial custody.
Responding to a point of order raised by Leader of the Opposition, Raja Nasir Abbas, the adviser said responsibility for the health and treatment of a person in judicial custody rested with the authorities concerned as well as the court under whose orders the person was confined. He stated that if any negligence occurred in providing medical treatment to a person in custody, the authorities responsible would be answerable under the law.
Brushing aside concerns about the PTI founder’s lack of proper medical treatment, Rana Sanaullah said that his health information, including blood pressure, did not support these claims. Referring to his eye ailment, he added that:
- Treatment had been provided by top specialists with international expertise in dealing with such conditions.
- The required injections and other treatments were administered.
- Medical examinations and diagnostic tests were conducted.
- Doctors from Al-Shifa participated in his treatment, and a doctor proposed by the PTI founder’s side was included on the medical team.
Rana Sanaullah noted that petitions concerning the PTI founder were pending before the Islamabad High Court and the Supreme Court, with proceedings continuing as per legal requirements. He also stated that meetings with the PTI founder in jail were held according to prescribed procedures.
Emphasizing strict adherence to the law and relevant court orders regarding the PTI founder’s custody, medical treatment, and meetings, he concluded.
