Quaid-e-Azam Envisioned State Based on Supremacy of Constitution: Speakers
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Sep, 2026) The ideas and democratic principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah continue to hold significant relevance for Pakistan’s national and state life. Father of the nation envisioned a state founded on the supremacy of the Constitution and law, democracy, freedom, equality, justice, and social welfare.
These views were expressed by speakers at a seminar titled “Quaid-e-Azam, Political Thought and Constitutional Vision: A Review,” organized by the Quaid-e-Azam Academy, Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board, National Heritage and Culture Division, Government of Pakistan, and the Department of History, University of Karachi, in conjunction with the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The seminar took place at the Audio-Visual Hall of Mazar-e-Quaid.
Professor Suraiya Qamar, Dr. Moez Khan, Professor Dr. Asghar Ali Dashti, Professor Kishwar Khan, Professor Muneeb-ul-Hasan, and other speakers addressed the event.
In his welcome address, Resident Engineer of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board, Abdul Aleem Sheikh stated that Quaid-e-Azam was among the great political leaders of the 20th century, whose principled and visionary leadership led the Muslims of the subcontinent to secure an independent homeland.
He noted that the creation of Pakistan was the result of Quaid-e-Azam’s peaceful, constitutional, and democratic struggle. Abdul Aleem Sheikh emphasized that understanding the historical context in which Pakistan emerged is crucial for accurately assessing Quaid-e-Azam’s political thought and constitutional vision.
He added that Quaid-e-Azam envisioned a state where all citizens enjoyed equal rights under the law and where the state ensured public welfare, social justice, and protection of fundamental rights.
Other speakers highlighted Quaid-e-Azam’s political vision and constitutional struggle, affirming that his political philosophy transcended the creation of Pakistan. They argued that he foresaw a robust, democratic, and welfare-oriented state. His principles, they suggested, continue to offer guidance in addressing contemporary political, social, and economic challenges facing the country.
The speakers stressed the importance of introducing Quaid-e-Azam’s political thought, constitutional struggle, and national vision to the younger generation to bolster the nation's fundamental principles and national identity.
Concluding the seminar, Quaid-e-Azam Academy head Zahid Hussain Abro thanked the distinguished guests, speakers, participants, and media representatives. He commended the speakers for presenting a comprehensive overview of Quaid-e-Azam’s thoughts and ideals. Asim Niaz Khan conducted the proceedings, with Abdul Majid Farooqui assisting him. Commemorative shields were presented to the distinguished guests and speakers at the end of the seminar.
