'Security Charges’ Turn Out To Be Extortion: ICT Police Catch Two Suspects Red-handed In Ghouri Town
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Aug, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested two suspects for allegedly extorting money from residents and plot owners in Ghouri Town under the guise of “security charges”. They have launched a wider investigation to uncover their alleged network and other accomplices.
An official stated that Koral Police apprehended the suspects, Kamran Majeed and Kashif, following complaints from citizens regarding harassment and extortion in the area. The suspects were accused of visiting homes and plots to collect money under the false pretense of security fees, particularly targeting non-resident plot owners with substantial demands.
Upon receiving the complaints, SP Sawan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf formed a special police team to trace and arrest the culprits. The team, led by SHO Koral Aamir Hayat, conducted an operation and caught the two suspects red-handed while allegedly collecting extortion money.
A case has been filed against the arrested suspects, with further investigation and legal proceedings ongoing. SSP Qazi Ali Raza stated that the probe would be expanded to identify other accomplices and unravel the entire extortion racket.
He emphasized that threatening and harassing citizens for money is unacceptable, adding that action will be taken against everyone involved without exception. The SSP also praised SP Sawan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf and his team for their effective operation.
The police urged citizens facing extortion, threats, or harassment to immediately report it to their nearest police station or through the police helpline.
