Suthra Punjab: Minister Stresses Capacity Building Of Field Staff
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, during a meeting regarding the Suthra Punjab program at the Civil Secretariat, emphasized the importance of capacity building for field monitoring officers (FMOs) and tehsil managers. He suggested that FMOs should ensure regular attendance monitoring of sanitation workers at the union council level.
The meeting, attended by Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, Special Secretary Shahid Zaman Lak, and DG Suthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed, also addressed the performance of district agencies and other related issues.
Zeeshan Rafique stated that efforts are underway to meet cleanliness targets, and warned of strict action against absenteeism and negligence in waste collection. He urged for:
- Regular shifting of waste from waste enclosures and temporary collection points (TCPs).
- Immediate cleaning of roadsides after rainfall during the monsoon season, utilizing both mechanical and manual sweeping methods.
- Prompt resolution of complaints received via the helpline and app.
- Implementation of anti-littering strategies, with cleaning processes in commercial areas extending into the night.
- Vigilant waste collection from railway tracks.
