Treatment of CM Sohail Afridi: A Call for Apology and Justice

Punjab’s Chief Minister and police have been criticized for their mistreatment of CM Sohail Afridi, with Barrister Gohar Khan asserting that such actions will fuel inter-provincial hatred. Khan, the PTI Chairman, demanded apologies from the Punjab CM and police for their conduct.
He emphasized the responsibility of institutions in ensuring the security of a Chief Minister visiting another province.
"We have repeatedly said that we are peaceful and will always remain peaceful," Khan stated. "We have always spoken about our rights and justice."
Khan also highlighted the unfulfilled Supreme Court order regarding the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital and the formation of a medical board. The PTI has filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court over this non-compliance.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi, in a video message, confirmed his continued stay in Lahore and vowed to initiate another street movement. He attributed the mass participation in their Lahore protest to the spontaneous actions of Lahore residents, despite no prior calls.
Afridi alleged that Punjab Police obstructed their movement by erecting barriers, closing roads, and turning off lights. He described the dismantling of their tents and the arrest of arriving workers, including the tragic death of Ishtiaq Ahmed, a Milad enthusiast, who was allegedly thrown into hot oil.
Afridi criticized the media for their silence regarding Ahmed’s killing, emphasizing the importance of journalistic integrity. He also highlighted the arrest of workers and the lack of decency shown by Punjab Police officials when he stood in protest on a police van.
Afridi claimed that despite promises of talks and releases, his team remained imprisoned.
