FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Former President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Mian Muhammad Adrees, stated that Pakistan’s industrial economy cannot regain a sustainable growth trajectory without a tripartite consensus among employers, workers, and the government. He emphasized the need to adapt policies to align with the dynamic global market.
Addressing an awareness seminar on "Fundamental Human Rights at Workplace" organized by Employers Federation of Pakistan at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), Adrees highlighted the challenges faced by Pakistan’s industrial sector. He noted that the country’s policies and business environment need modernization to unlock industry’s full potential.
Mian Muhammad Adrees called for comprehensive policies to stimulate industrial activity, warning that factory closures harm not only industrialists but also workers and institutions. He viewed such initiatives as timely, promoting understanding between employers and employees to foster harmony.
Earlier, Syed Nazar Ali, Secretary General of Employers Federation of Pakistan, explained the emerging business landscape, emphasizing the importance of adhering to international labor and business standards for Pakistan’s export markets. Referring to GSP Plus requirements and other conventions, he stressed compliance as crucial for expanding market access.
Ali suggested that compliance should be seen as a means to enhance productivity, competitiveness, and workplace standards, rather than just an obligation. He also proposed establishing a dedicated desk at Faisalabad Chamber to assist local employers with labor-related matters and compliance issues.
During the question-and-answer session, employers recommended a unified certification system, arguing that meeting diverse requirements from different international buyers is time-consuming and resource-intensive. They also noted the absence of Faisalabad’s representation in the Pakistan Labor Court, despite both employers and workers facing labor-related issues.
