Two-day Badminton Tournament Concludes at Matiari Gymkhana; DC Stresses Promotion of Sports Among Youth
A two-day badminton tournament organized by the sports department of Matiari in collaboration with the district administration concluded at Gymkhana Matiari. According to a handout issued on Tuesday, the tournament aligned with the government’s directives to engage youth in positive and healthy activities and promote sports.
In the final, Azhar and Adil showcased an impressive performance, defeating Manan and Shahzair to emerge as the tournament champions.
Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Danish Zakir, ADC-II Dr Amjad Jamali, Assistant Commissioner Matiari Abdul Wahab Memon, District Sports Officer Jalil Halipoto, Caretaker Matiari Gymkhana Rajesh Kumar, and Senior Director Physical Education Amjad Soomro attended the concluding ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Zakir emphasized that organizing sports activities fosters healthy habits, discipline, tolerance, and sportsmanship among the youth. He underscored the need to provide young people with opportunities to participate in positive activities and display their abilities.
At the ceremony’s close, Zakir presented shields, certificates, and cash prizes to the winning pair, Azhar and Adil, while runners-up Manan and Shahzair also received shields and certificates. The guests congratulated the winners and commended the sports department for successfully hosting the event.
