UAE Participates In BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting
UAE participated in the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ meeting under India‘s Chairship, which took place in Jaipur on Friday, focusing on "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability." The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Jaipur Declaration, stemming from preparatory discussions held on August 19-20, 2026.
The Jaipur Declaration highlights the progress made by the BRICS Tourism Working Group during India‘s presidency across four thematic areas: Artificial Intelligence and Tourism; Sustainability and Responsible Tourism; Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building; and Tourism.
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism of UAE, expressed his delegation’s satisfaction with the meeting’s outcomes, emphasizing tourism’s role as a driver of investment, economic growth, and job creation while fostering cultural exchanges.
Al Marri supported the initiative to establish the "BRICS Tourism Solutions Exchange Platform," viewing it as a way to share expertise and foster innovation within the tourism sector.
The Ministers’ Communique, adopted by consensus, recognizes:
- The potential of responsible, safe, and human-centric Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies in tourism.
- The importance of sustainable and community-focused tourism, natural and cultural heritage conservation, tourism investment, and infrastructure development.
- The need for continuous skilling, industry-academia partnerships, data exchange, and best practice sharing.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Al Marri held separate discussions with India‘s Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Brazil‘s Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Costa Feliciando. These conversations explored opportunities for expanding tourism cooperation between UAE, India, and Brazil. They discussed ways to strengthen partnerships, develop new collaboration avenues, create joint tourism events, and introduce innovative products and experiences.
