1,222 Road Accidents Reported Across Punjab in 24 Hours, 13 Killed
UrduPoint (August 20, 2026) – Rescue services responded to 1,222 road traffic accidents across Punjab within the last 24 hours, resulting in 13 fatalities and 1,424 injuries, according to a spokesperson for Rescue.
Of the injured, 593 were provided immediate first aid and transferred to hospitals for further treatment. The gender distribution of the injured was as follows:
- 1,140 men
- 284 women
The highest number of accidents occurred in:
- Lahore (234 cases)
- Multan (89)
- Faisalabad (85)
1,307 motorcycles, 95 rickshaws, and 119 cars were involved in the reported accidents.
In Lahore, Rescue teams attended to 234 road traffic accidents, offering emergency medical aid to the injured. Out of 293 people affected, 107 critically injured individuals were sent to hospitals, while 186 with minor injuries received first aid at the scene, stated the spokesperson.
