47th Mid-Career Management Course Officers Briefed On Lahore Traffic Management
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 20, 2026) A delegation of officers participating in the 47th Mid-Career Management Course met Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, and received a detailed briefing on the modern traffic management system, infrastructure, digital monitoring, e-challaning, and public services of Lahore Traffic Police.
During the meeting, the CTO briefed the delegation on:
- Driving licence services
- Smart traffic management
- Digital enforcement
- Service infrastructure
- Measures to ensure compliance with traffic laws
Abdul Rahim Shirazi noted that managing traffic of over 8.3 million vehicles on 1,500 kilometres of roads in a city with a population of around 15 million posed a significant challenge. He emphasized improvements through modern technology, effective enforcement, and public awareness.
According to the CTO, Lahore’s travel time is better than that of 149 developed cities worldwide, as reported in the World Traffic Index. He highlighted achievements like:
- 97% implementation rate of helmet use
- 70% lane-line compliance under zero-tolerance policy
- 40% decline in head injury cases
He stressed top priorities of Lahore Traffic Police, including:
- Providing police services
- Traffic education
- Effective enforcement
Strict traffic law enforcement had led to a significant reduction in accidents, while citizen interest in obtaining driving licenses had increased substantially. The CTO noted a 300% increase in license applications and a decline in calls related to traffic congestion, indicating improved flow.
He assured continued efforts to enhance service delivery through modern technology and digital systems.
At the end of the briefing, the CTO answered questions and engaged in a discussion with the officers regarding various aspects of traffic management. The officers expressed appreciation for Lahore Traffic Police’s initiatives to facilitate citizens, improve traffic flow, and leverage modern technology.
