Baig Urges Power Minister To Hold Meeting With K-Electric Over Load-shedding
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) MNA Mirza Ikhtiar Baig on Tuesday urged the Federal power minister to visit Karachi and hold a joint meeting with elected representatives and K-Electric management to resolve prolonged load-shedding.
Speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly, he stated that the issue had persisted despite repeated contacts with K-Electric. He noted that while the company occasionally reduced load-shedding for a day or two, it did not offer a lasting solution.
Baig emphasized the necessity of a meeting involving the power minister, Karachi lawmakers, and K-Electric officials. He recalled that the minister had previously pledged to visit Karachi and sign an agreement to tackle the problem.
"The issue will remain unresolved until a joint meeting takes place," he said. He further claimed that lawmakers had assured their constituents of a resolution at the proposed meeting, yet the gathering had not materialized.
The MNA questioned the legality of depriving an entire locality of electricity due to low bill recovery in that area. He urged the power minister to take ownership of the matter and collaborate with lawmakers and K-Electric management on a clear agenda to address load-shedding.
