China Launches Zhuque-3, Achieving First Rocket Recovery On Land
China successfully launched the reusable rocket Zhuque-3 on Wednesday morning, marking its first controlled recovery of a rocket’s first stage on land. The rocket blasted off from the Dongfeng commercial space innovation pilot zone in northwest China at 7:35 am (Beijing Time).
As planned, the rocket’s first stage landed smoothly at the designated position in the recovery site. The second stage deployed the Honghu-03 satellite into a preset orbit, confirming a successful flight mission.
This achievement follows China’s previous success in sea-based net recovery of the Long March-10B‘s first stage on July 10th. This marks a significant milestone as it is the country’s first successful land-based controlled recovery using deployable landing legs, showcasing a major advance in reusable rocket technology.
