ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar Monday urged Pakistan’s new generation of diplomats to create new opportunities for Pakistan in the fields of trade, investment, technology, education, tourism, and people-to-people connections.

While addressing a new batch of foreign service officers at the graduation ceremony of the 45th Specialized Diplomatic Course and the inauguration of renovated premises of the Foreign Service Academy, he stated: "Pakistan is seeking stronger partnerships, greater economic opportunities, and more confident and constructive engagement with the whole world."

He congratulated the faculty, new officers, and their parents on completing the course. He highlighted that the Foreign Service Academy was becoming a significant bridge between Pakistan and the international diplomatic community.

According to him, "The Foreign Service must remain responsive to the country’s priorities and capable of advancing Pakistan’s national interests in an increasingly complex international environment."

He emphasized the importance of economic security, technology, and media in contemporary diplomacy, stating:

"A diplomat must be much more than a skilled negotiator. You must understand geopolitics, economics, technology, and media. You must be able to communicate clearly, respond quickly, and know when to listen."

Dar further noted, "Diplomacy is about building bridges, even when countries disagree, diplomats must keep channels of communication open and build understanding, and look for areas of common ground."

He assured the Foreign Service Academy of his full support in making it a center of excellence for today’s and future generations of Pakistani diplomats. He expressed confidence in the youth of Pakistan, adding that young diplomats were entering at an essential time for the nation.

"Diplomacy cannot be learned from books alone; it is also learned from experience and from those who negotiated, represented, and served before you," he advised.

He requested the academy to continue strengthening the culture of mentorship so that the experience of one generation could become the foundation for the next.

Dar inaugurated the phase one of the renovation of the academy’s premises, calling it an investment in Pakistan’s diplomatic future. He expressed gratitude to the people and government of China for their support and cooperation in the renovation project, adding:

"This cooperation is yet another reflection of the ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China."
