Dubai Mallathon Surpasses 100,000 Participants, Clocks 220 Million Steps in Two Months

DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 22nd Aug, 2026) More than 100,000 people have taken part in the second edition of Dubai Mallathon, collectively logging over 220 million steps in the first two months.

This community sports initiative was launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

Community Engagement

The momentum shows no signs of slowing down, with Dubai Mallathon attracting strong participation from across the community and expanding to new locations in response to growing demand. Government entities, private sector companies, and community organizations have joined families, senior citizens, People of Determination, residents, and visitors participating in this initiative throughout the city.

Gate Avenue at DIFC joined the initiative on 1 August and will remain a participating venue until its conclusion on 15 September, while Ibn Battuta Mall joined on 17 August, making the event even more accessible to the community. Dubai International Airport (DXB) is also hosting four key events every Friday during August.

Notable Participants

The initiative welcomed Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, who participated in a running session at Dubai Mall and was briefed on the activities. Dr. Al Neyadi praised Dubai Mallathon, emphasizing its alignment with the leadership’s vision to make sport a way of life and encourage active lifestyles that improve physical and mental well-being.

"The broad participation by government entities, private sector companies, young people, and families reflects growing awareness about the importance of physical activity in advancing quality of life," he stated. "Initiatives like Dubai Mallathon play a crucial role in fostering community partnerships, promoting healthy habits, and providing young individuals with a supportive environment to channel their energy, develop their character, and foster a sense of participation and responsibility."

Call to Action

Dr. Al Neyadi encouraged members of the community to join Dubai Mallathon and benefit from the "vibrant sporting and community experience" it offers, adding that the initiative’s true impact lies in instilling positive practices for developing sustainable daily habits and contributing to a healthier, more active society.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the leadership’s continued support for community initiatives, which provides strong impetus for promoting public health and embedding a culture of physical activity across all segments of society.
