Fahd Haroon Welcomes Google Pakistan’s Official Launch
Fahd Haroon, Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Media, welcomed the formal inauguration of Google Pakistan at the Prime Minister’s House, describing it as a significant step for Pakistan’s digital economy and tech sector.
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Fahd Haroon, Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Media, welcomed the formal inauguration of Google Pakistan at the Prime Minister’s House, calling it an important development for Pakistan’s digital economy and technology sector.
Haroon stated that Google’s presence in Pakistan would foster greater collaboration, investment, and innovation within the country’s tech ecosystem. He revealed that he had been collaborating with the Google team for several months and saw the company’s formal establishment as a testament to Pakistan’s digital potential.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, senior government officials, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker, and senior Google representatives, marked a significant occasion. The event included a meeting with the prime minister and the unveiling of a plaque symbolizing Google’s official establishment in Pakistan.
Haroon credited Prime Minister Sharif for supporting initiatives aimed at developing Pakistan’s digital economy and attracting global technology investment. He also acknowledged the role of Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, in boosting investor confidence and promoting Pakistan’s economic and technological potential.
Furthermore, Haroon highlighted the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in attracting international investment and improving investor confidence. He extended his congratulations to officials from the Government of Pakistan, including the Ministry of IT and Telecom, as well as the Google team, for their contributions to facilitating Google’s official establishment in the country.
Haroon expressed hope that Google’s presence would encourage other international technology companies to expand their engagement with Pakistan and explore investment and business opportunities in the country.
