Goods Transporters’ Strike Deferred For 40 Days, Welcomed By Industry, KATI President

KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Muhammad Ikram Rajput, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), has expressed his delight over the decision to postpone the nationwide strike by goods transporters for 40 days following successful negotiations between government representatives and transporters. He considers this a significant and positive step for Pakistan’s national economy, industry, trade, and supply chain continuity.

Rajput offered heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his effective role in addressing the long-standing issues faced by the transport sector and helping resolve the current crisis. He also thanked the federal and provincial governments, Governor Sindh, Mayor Karachi, representatives of goods transporters, and Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan for their concerted efforts to find a solution through consultations and negotiations, ultimately agreeing to defer the strike in the national interest.

According to Rajput, "Goods transportation is a crucial component of Pakistan’s economic activities. When transportation grinds to a halt, its effects ripple across the entire economy. Therefore, negotiations to end this disruption are highly commendable."
