LGH Suspends 3 Employees, Registers FIR Over Emergency Ward Medicine Theft

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd Aug, 2026) The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) administration has taken strict action over theft of medicines from the emergency ward, suspending three employees and registering an FIR against those involved.

Medical Superintendent (MS) LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain submitted a preliminary report to Principal Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal on Saturday. Following the report, Mian Hamid Nadeem, Muhammad Saadullah Zafar (pharmacy technician), and Rashid (ward attendant) were suspended. DMS Emergency Dr. Muhammad Tanveer was also issued a warning for lack of diligence in official duties and directed to strengthen monitoring.

A high-level committee has been constituted to conduct a comprehensive and transparent audit of medicine records and investigate all aspects of the incident.

Principal Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal stated that those who steal medicines meant for patients would face the law, emphasizing that the hospital would maintain its zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Administrative doctors have been instructed to intensify monitoring of the purchase, receipt, record-keeping, storage and distribution of medicines to ensure transparency and accountability.

MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining zero tolerance for corruption and continuing impartial proceedings. He said strict monitoring and accountability measures would be implemented across the hospital’s medicine management system to prevent irregularities and ensure medicines reach deserving patients uninterruptedly.
