Minister Iqbal Chairs Meeting on Suthra Punjab Initiative in Kasur

Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan on Thursday chaired an important meeting on the Suthra Punjab initiative in Kasur at the Law Department.

MD Suthra Punjab Kasur Rizwan Ashraf, CEO Health Kasur Dr Sohail Tariq, DD Labour and Welfare Kasur Saqlain Abbas, and other relevant officials attended.

The participants briefed the minister on:

  • The Suthra Punjab programme
  • Cleanliness arrangements
  • Waste management in urban areas
  • Sanitation and public health conditions
  • Issues faced by sanitation workers
  • Matters relating to labour welfare

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan directed authorities to make the cleanliness system under the Suthra Punjab programme more effective and coordinated. He emphasized utilizing all available resources for a clean and healthy environment.

He ordered immediate redressal of public complaints regarding sanitation and called for continuous monitoring of cleanliness operations, emphasizing field presence by relevant officers with no compromise on cleanliness standards.

The minister directed special cleanliness arrangements on:

  • Main roads
  • Markets
  • Residential areas
  • Government institutions
  • Other public places

He ordered the immediate removal of garbage heaps and unhygienic conditions and called for improvement in waste collection systems.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan stated all relevant departments must work together to fulfill Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a Suthra Punjab. He stressed adopting modern technology and strengthening monitoring mechanisms for improved sanitation services.

Highlighting the connection between cleanliness and public health, he directed officials to ensure special sanitation arrangements around hospitals, Basic Health Units, and other healthcare facilities.

He emphasized that maintaining a clean Punjab was a shared responsibility, calling for effective public awareness campaigns to promote a culture of cleanliness and encourage citizens’ participation in keeping their surroundings clean.
