Minister Seeks Citizens’ Feedback on Cleanliness in Lahore

Punjab Minister for Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Zeeshan Rafiq on Saturday paid a surprise visit to various areas of Lahore, on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and reviewed cleanliness arrangements under the ‘Suthra Punjab’ program.

He visited Nishter Town, Kamahan, and residential areas along Kasur Road, where he inspected sanitation operations and sought feedback from citizens regarding cleanliness arrangements. Chief Minister’s Focal Person for Suthra Punjab Asim Mahmood and relevant officers accompanied him.

Acting on suggestions and complaints shared by citizens, Zeeshan Rafiq directed the officials concerned to take immediate measures at the spot. He also met Suthra Punjab workers engaged in sanitation duties in the hot and humid weather and encouraged them for their continued efforts.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that the success of the Suthra Punjab program was largely due to its workers. “Workers performing their duties on the streets in extreme heat and humidity are our heroes,” he said.

Zeeshan Rafiq emphasized that obtaining direct feedback from citizens is crucial to further improving the sanitation network and making the system more responsive to public needs. He mentioned that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had instructed Suthra Punjab officers to remain present in the field and monitor operations themselves. “I am also conducting surprise visits to review the situation on the ground,” he added.

The minister assured that the Punjab government would take every possible step to facilitate citizens and enhance cleanliness and sanitation services across the province.
