Modern Digital Technologies Vital For Agricultural Transformation: Kirmani

Punjab Minister for Agriculture, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, emphasized on Monday the importance of modern digital technologies in the agricultural transformation agenda. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review proposals utilizing advanced technology to aid farmers and enhance agricultural services.

Digitalization, according to Mr. Kirmani, is a crucial component of the current agricultural reforms. The meeting included a presentation on an innovative mobile application for crops developed by Syngenta Pakistan. This app aims to provide timely and effective agricultural advisory services to farmers through advanced technologies, including data collection on crop growth and other vital indicators.

Punjab Agriculture Secretary, Shakeel Ahmad Mian, highlighted the benefits of digital technology in improving crop disease diagnosis. He suggested that its effective implementation could lead to more efficient farmer advisory services through public-private partnerships. The government, he added, is committed to embracing modern applications and AI-based solutions for this purpose.

The discussion also covered proposals to leverage AI models in agriculture, focusing on delivering contemporary agricultural information to farmers.

In summary, the meeting stressed the potential of digital technologies to revolutionize agricultural practices and support farmers in Pakistan.
