NCCIA Arrests Man For Impersonation, Forgery And Cyber-enabled Fraud
NCCIA (National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency) Punjab on Monday arrested a man accused of impersonating government representatives and senior officials to defraud individuals by promising official favors and appointments in exchange for money.
This action was taken on the special directions of Director NCCIA Punjab, Muhammad Ali Waseem.
The suspect, identified as Faiz Ali Syed, was arrested in connection with FIR No. 171/2026. According to an NCCIA spokesperson, he allegedly:
- Used multiple WhatsApp numbers to contact government and private institution officials while falsely claiming to represent prestigious institutions.
- Offered to get official work done or arrange facilities in government departments for a price.
- Utilized a private vehicle with a fake green registration plate to create an impression of official status.
- Involved another individual dressed in a police uniform to enhance the deception.
Three mobile phones were seized from the suspect, revealing WhatsApp chats, official documents, and digital material allegedly linked to fraudulent activities.
Investigators discovered:
- A WhatsApp account labeled "Apex Court".
- Chats indicating communication with officials under false pretenses.
- Documents purporting to be appointments to senior government positions.
- Digital evidence suggesting he received money from individuals in exchange for facilitating their work in government departments.
The NCCIA spokesperson stated that investigations are ongoing into alleged offenses involving electronic fraud, forgery, impersonation of government institutions, and other cyber-enabled crimes. Forensic examinations are being conducted on the seized mobile phones and further revelations are expected as the investigation progresses.
