Over 53,000 Litres of Adulterated Milk Discarded
PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority has intensified its campaign against adulterated milk in the provincial capital, discarding more than 53,000 litres of substandard milk during a month-long inspection drive.
Key Findings:
- The authority tested 1,205 milk samples during the campaign, with 267 samples failing to meet prescribed quality standards.
- Authorities imposed fines totalling Rs4.76 million on violators.
The inspections detected the presence of water, chemicals, caustic soda and formalin in some milk samples, raising serious concerns over public health and food safety.
The Authority pledged to strengthen monitoring and inspections to curb milk adulteration and ensure consumers receive safe and quality milk.
