President Asif Ali Zardari Calls for Expanded Public Awareness of Banking Services
President Asif Ali Zardari has urged the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan to enhance public awareness about its services, aiming to empower banking customers and protect them from fraud. He made this appeal during a meeting with Sirajuddin Aziz, Banking Mohtasib, on Wednesday.
Modern Banking and Awareness
The President noted the significant role of information technology in modern banking, emphasizing that a lack of knowledge among customers makes them vulnerable to fraudulent activities. He specifically requested that the Banking Mohtasib assist women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, low-income communities, and other at-risk groups in accessing justice.
Complaint Handling and Statistics
According to a news release from the Presidency, the Banking Mohtasib received 35,130 complaints in 2025, an increase from the previous year’s 13,793 complaints. Of the total 48,923 pending complaints, 36,280 were addressed and resolved, resulting in Rs. 1,879.766 million in relief for banking customers.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Saleem Mandviwala.
