Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Seeks Crackdown on Quackery
Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Multan has called for an intensive and comprehensive crackdown on quackery, advocating a strict zero-tolerance policy. This appeal was made during a meeting between a PMA delegation led by its president, Prof Dr Masood-ul-Rauf Haraj, and CEO Health Multan, Dr Soban Zia, on August 19, 2026.
The delegation highlighted the critical need for coordination between private clinics and government hospitals to manage conditions like TB, hepatitis, and HIV effectively. They also brought attention to the shortage of medical personnel and equipment at several public health facilities, including DHQ Shahbaz Sharif Hospital Multan, South City Hospital Multan, THQ Shujabad, and THQ Jalalpur Pirwala.
Furthermore, PMA leaders expressed concern over unauthorized occupants living in doctor’s accommodations at South City Hospital and demanded that government residences be allocated to deserving doctors. They also addressed other challenges faced by medical professionals across various health centers and units, requesting immediate solutions.
Dr Soban Zia assured the delegation of prompt action and directed relevant officers to tackle these issues promptly.
