Saleem Memon Urges CM Sindh, Mayor For Resolving Water Supply Issue
Hyderabad (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd Aug, 2026)
Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry President Muhammad Saleem Memon has expressed his concerns over the severe water crisis in Hyderabad for the past three days, highlighting the unavailability of clean water and the supply of dirty and smelly water in various areas. He stated that citizens are facing water scarcity.
Memon noted that during these three days, residents across the city struggled to find even a single drop of water, impacting their daily lives, businesses, and essential services such as shops, markets, restaurants, offices, and industrial units.
He attributed the issue to several factors:
- Old and dilapidated water lines in the city
- Leakage in the system
- Potential mixing with sewage lines
- Poor drainage
- Weak pumping systems
According to Memon, while constructing new filtration plants is a positive initiative by the Sindh government, it’s not enough. He further urged:
- Ensuring payment of salaries and pensions of employees of the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation, overdue for 20 months, to improve sanitation services.
- Tough decisions after an impartial review of the institution’s performance by the government.
He demanded immediate action from the Sindh government, Chief Minister, Mayor of Hyderabad, Commissioner, and the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation:
- Issuing an area-wise water supply schedule for all parts of the city.
- Making public the actual production capacity and efficiency of water sources and filtration plants.
- Conducting regular laboratory tests on water and publishing the results.
