Sindh Govt Launches Crackdown on Public Service Vehicles

The Sindh government has decided to launch a comprehensive enforcement campaign against public service vehicles across the province. This includes strict checking and enforcement drives by provincial and regional transport authorities.

Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that action will be taken against vehicles operating without:

  • Digitalized route permits
  • Valid fitness certificates
  • Mandatory fire extinguishers

Memon emphasized the serious threat to passenger safety posed by these violations. He directed:

  • A verification of all digitalized route permits.
  • Cancellation of manual route permits.
  • Preparation of a list of violating vehicles and operators, with weekly reporting to the Transport Department.
  • Seizure of vehicles without valid fitness certificates and blacklisting of repeat offending operators.

Surprise inspections will be conducted by motor vehicle inspectors, and legal action, including fines, license suspension, or cancellation, will be taken against violators. Memon stressed that passenger safety is the government’s top priority.
