RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 18, 2026) – Intermittent rain has continued in Rawalpindi since last night, prompting the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to remain on high alert at the direction of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir.

Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi, Azizullah Khan, stated that WASA staff and heavy machinery have been deployed in low-lying areas, while he is personally supervising drainage operations. He mentioned that heavy machinery has been positioned at:

  • Liaquat Bagh
  • Committee Chowk Underpass
  • Murree Road
  • Dhok Khaba
  • Circular Road
  • Sadiqabad

to handle potential water accumulation.

The MD reported that the Nullah Lai is being continuously monitored, with water levels reaching:

  • 10.5 feet at Katarian
  • 8.5 feet at Gawalmandi

He attributed the timely removal of garbage carried into Nullah Lai during previous rainfall as the reason for normal water flow without obstructions.

** Meteorological Department** data shared by WASA revealed the following rainfall figures:

  • 3 mm at Saidpur
  • 22 mm at Golra
  • 59 mm at Bokra
  • 47 mm at PMD
  • 115 mm at Shamsabad
  • 26 mm at Kachhari
  • 72 mm at Pirwadhai
  • 59 mm at Gawalmandi
  • 64 mm at New Katarian.

Azizullah appealed to citizens to refrain from throwing garbage into drains and sewers or removing sewer covers, emphasizing that such actions could block the drainage system. He urged citizens to contact the WASA helpline immediately in case of any emergency.
