SUKKUR, (APP) – The World Health Organization (WHO) polio team on Monday visited remote villages near Wazirabad in Shikarpur district to ensure that children living in mud houses and makeshift shelters receive polio vaccination and their parents are properly informed about the importance of immunization.

The vaccination teams, led by Dr. Charles, Dr. Muhammad and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, along with Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur, Shakil Ahmed Abro, visited various rural areas and went door to door to reach children in underserved areas.

During the visit, the teams met parents and inquired about the vaccination status of their children. WHO representatives also administered the newly introduced polio vaccine to children who had not yet been vaccinated.

The parents were briefed about the dangers of polio and the importance of ensuring that children receive timely vaccination. Health officials and district administration urged parents to administer polio drops to every child under five years of age and fully cooperate with vaccination teams during the ongoing campaign.

WHO representatives emphasized that complete cooperation from parents and communities is essential to protect children from this fatal disease and support efforts aimed at making Pakistan polio-free.
