DC Visits Shahpur Kanjran, Reviews Cleanliness Measures

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz visited Shahpur Kanjran on Tuesday to review the ongoing cleanliness campaign launched under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Suthra Punjab vision. He directed officials to accelerate sanitation operations and ensure immediate removal of solid waste across Lahore.
Accompanied by Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, Kaleem Yousaf, and Assistant Commissioner Abdul Sami Sheikh, Ijaz was briefed on the progress of the campaign during his inspection. The assistant commissioner highlighted successful cleanliness targets in the tehsil and regular monitoring of operations.
Ijaz issued guidelines to streamline and expedite the drive, emphasizing prompt transportation and disposal of garbage. He instructed field staff to maintain 100% attendance for uninterrupted sanitation services.
"Lahore will be transformed into a model clean city under Suthra Punjab vision," Ijaz stated, adding that no compromise would be made on sanitation standards. He personally oversees field operations to ensure effective campaign implementation.
The DC also stressed the importance of public cooperation and urged citizens to support government efforts in maintaining a clean environment.
Strict Action Taken After Child’s Death:
Meanwhile, Ijaz took strict notice of a child’s death after falling into an open manhole in Hanjrawal. He ordered immediate legal action against responsible parties, resulting in an FIR being registered at Hanjrawal Police Station, arrests, and proceedings under relevant laws. He characterized the incident as criminal negligence, ordered an inspection of all manhole covers across the district, and warned against unauthorized opening of manholes.
