Goods transport fares reduced by 10pc after diesel becomes cheaper
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) After reduction in the price of diesel, goods transport fares have been reduced by 10 percent. The fares of Mazda, trailers and other goods-carrying vehicles have been adjusted. Goods transporters are implementing these new rates effective today, leading to a decrease in the cost of transporting goods.
On the other hand, a final decision on reducing public transport fares has not yet been reached. A meeting is expected later today between public transporters regarding this issue, following which a reduction in fares might be announced.
The Punjab Transport Department is actively encouraging public transporters to also decrease their fares by 10 percent. According to sources, the department is working to pass on the benefits of the diesel price drop to passengers using public transportation. The final outcome regarding fare reductions is likely to become clearer after the public transporter meeting in a day or two.
