IHC directs NCCIA to identify detained Chinese nationals
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) The Islamabad High Court on Thursday directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to complete the identification of three Chinese nationals with regard to their detention after arriving in Pakistan on business visas.
Justice Shah Rukh Arjumand issued the directions while hearing a petition filed by translator Muhammad Nasir regarding the detention of the Chinese nationals.
During the proceedings, the NCCIA’s investigation officers, Assistant Attorney General Usman Ghumman, counsel for the petitioner and other officials appeared before the court.
The Assistant Attorney General informed the court that two of the three Chinese nationals had been identified, while the identity of the third person could not yet be established.
He sought additional time for completion of the identification process.
The court observed that if the agency was facing difficulty in identifying the third Chinese national, the petitioner should assist it in the process.
The court directed the NCCIA to identify the third Chinese national with the assistance of the petitioner and submit a report before the court.
The court subsequently adjourned further hearing of the case till Friday.
