Inter close in on £30m deal for Liverpool’s Jones

Curtis Jones: Inter Milan close in on £30m deal for Liverpool midfielder

BBC Sport reports that Inter Milan are closing in on a deal worth €35 million (£30 million) for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.

In June, Liverpool rejected an initial verbal offer of €25 million from Inter, valuing Jones at approximately £35 million. However, it is now understood that a deal around £30 million could see an agreement between the clubs. While both clubs acknowledge the need for further discussions, sources in Italy suggest a verbal agreement is already in place.

Liverpool, open to selling Jones, are seeking a package similar to the one Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence. The Italian side had previously shown interest in Jones in January, proposing a loan with an eye towards a permanent transfer, but those discussions were rebuffed by Liverpool.

Since making his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019, Jones has featured in 228 games for Liverpool, playing 49 times across all competitions last season. While he started only 18 Premier League matches, the 25-year-old is reportedly eager to pursue a new challenge and would become the third English player to join Inter this summer, following John Stones and Spence.
