BUREWALA (APP – UrduPoint) : A thrilling kabaddi match was held at Quaid-e-Azam Stadium here under the aegis of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, drawing a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators.

Commissioner Multan Division Rana Amir Karim Khan and Deputy Commissioner Vehari Khalid Javed Goraya attended the match as chief guests.

Players from both sides put up an outstanding display, earning loud applause from the stands. In the main contest, Multan White defeated Multan Green by 38 points to 31.

Following the match, the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner met the players and encouraged them on their performance. Rana Amir Karim Khan lauded the players’ skill and sporting spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said kabaddi holds a distinguished place among Punjab’s traditional and popular sports, adding that the promotion of the game and encouragement of players remains a priority of the Punjab government. "Whatever the sport, it fosters a spirit of healthy competition," he said, describing the large turnout of spectators as encouraging and reflective of public demand for healthy recreational activities.

He said reviving sports grounds instils healthy competition, discipline, and positive thinking among the youth, and pledged more opportunities for sports and healthy activities in future.

Spectators cheered the players throughout the match and enjoyed the closely fought contest. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while the runners-up received Rs 30,000. The Best Raider and Best Jaffi (holder) were each given cash prizes of Rs 10,000. Four international players Shahbaz, Azaan Wahla, Abdullah Warraich and Aqeel Ansari put up impressive performances and were jointly awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000.

Assistant Commissioner Burewala Jawad Hussain Malik, former MPA Sardar Khalid Mahmood Dogar, the Divisional Sports Officer, District Sports Officer Muhammad Asim, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
