KP Govt. Launches Rs5.6 Bln Infrastructure Overhaul to Boost Galiyat Tourism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Saturday launched infrastructure overhaul to boost regional tourism and deployed heavy machinery on-site to commence construction and rehabilitation of Nathiagali–Barian Road.

Led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, the project aims at modernizing key transit corridors across the scenic Galiyat region. The initiative has a budget of Rs 5.602 billion and includes the total reconstruction and upgrading of 63.65 kilometers of critical mountain roads.

The scope involves two primary arteries:

  • A 57.5-kilometer stretch connecting Abbottabad to Nathiagali and Barian.
  • A dedicated 6.15-kilometer link spanning Kozagali, Ayubiya, and Khanspur.

By improving accessibility and repairing damaged roads, provincial authorities intend to ensure safer, faster, and more reliable travel for domestic and international visitors to tourist destinations. This modernization is anticipated to stimulate local business activity, create employment, and deliver a sustained economic boost to communities throughout the Galiyat valley.
