Masdar and ScottishPower Renewables Mark Major Milestone at East Anglia THREE Windfarm

LONDON, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 17th Aug, 2026)

Abu Dhabi – Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar and ScottishPower Renewables have achieved a significant construction feat at the £4 billion East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm. All 95 foundations, weighing between 1,200-1,800 tonnes each, standing up to 84 metres tall, and with a diameter of up to 10.6 metres, have been successfully installed off the Suffolk coast using a jack-up vessel.

These monopiles are the largest ever installed in Europe from such a vessel. Additionally, all 95 transition pieces, measuring 20 metres high, 8 metres in diameter, and weighing over 400 tonnes each, have also been completed.

With turbine installation already underway, the project continues to advance rapidly. The goal is to have East Anglia THREE fully operational by the end of 2026, generating 1.4GW of clean power for the UK.

“The completion of foundation installation at East Anglia THREE is a significant milestone and a remarkable engineering achievement… It reflects the strength of our partnership…” said Husain Al Meer, Executive Director, Global Offshore Wind and UK at Masdar.

"East Anglia THREE… forms an important part of [Masdar’s] long-term commitment to the UK offshore wind industry… With electricity demand accelerating, offshore wind will be essential to delivering affordable, home-grown power at scale."

Once operational, the windfarm will supply 1.4GW of clean energy, contributing to enhanced energy security in the UK.

Charlie Jordan, CEO of ScottishPower Renewables, expressed his enthusiasm:

“East Anglia THREE is our biggest windfarm ever… The completion of the foundation installation is a true engineering triumph… It’s mind-blowing.”

He highlighted the project’s economic benefits, stating that nearly £2 billion has been invested in the domestic supply chain and around 100 jobs have been created during construction.
